Change is on the horizon

11 Nov 2003

Over the past few months, I've been noticing a gradual change in the direction of my life. The biggest reason for this change is the disappearance of computer jobs, I guess.

Back before Y2K, I used to set goals for myself that involved me being a seriously rich computer programmer. Of course, I never met those goals, and there was a massive crash in the tech economy which makes it much more difficult for me to do so. Consequently, I now have no desire to continue in a computer career or build any more websites.

I deeply desire to find a job where I can be a big fish in a small pond. My dad, a male nurse, is a big fish in a small pond. That particular job doesn't suit me, but there must be a job that does, one that will shine an industry spotlight on me. Programming?  Overcrowded with men. Songwriter?  Way too much competition. Photographer?  Crowded with guys. Ballroom dance teacher?  Few men, but the clients would frustrate the fock out of me. Nurse?  Very few men, with lots of money, but I'd have to do another 2 years of school at least, and I hate school.

Let me think about this some more and get back to ya. While you're waiting, take a look at the 10 most overpaid jobs in the USA.
