Smoke inhalation

16 May 2003

(The photo above is from a ballet cookout I attended in July 2001.)

I wonder how much damage I've done to my lungs today.

  • At work, I left a bag of microwave popcorn unattended, which filled the breakroom with burnt-popcorn smoke and set off the fire alarm. I spent an hour cleaning the microwave afterwards and can still smell the smoke.
  • Valerie and Darren and I went to a local bar called Bullfrog and Beamer's so that I could sing karaoke. By the time the bar closed, I had sung three songs and my eyes were smarting from the cigarette smoke.

Also, when I went back to see Matrix Reloaded again, there was a couple sitting in front of me that had a very strong fragrance about them which smelled like hotel soap and invaded the lungs of most of us in the auditorium. I know this won't damage my lungs like the first two things I mentioned, but I like telling you that I've seen the Matrix sequel twice in two days.
